HOW TO GET THERE:
AUTO:
Pisa-Florence, exit Pontedera-Ponsacco, continue along the SS439 in the direction of Volterra Steer to the bridge, then turning to the provincial Lajatico.
BUS:
CPT-town, destination Pontedera, CPT, and even suburban, destination, or Orciatico Volterra.
TRAIN:
Pisa-Florence to Pontedera, then CPT (see above).
DESCRIPTION:
Of Latin origin as Castrum Ajatici or Lombard, is placed on top of a rocky hill at the confluence of the valley and the Era of the Steer, the director of Sarzanese-Era.
Passed from the dominion of the Bishop of Volterra, the Republic of Pisa, at the end of the thirteenth century becomes property of the City of Florence.
The surrounding area so intensely interested in historical events on the main Pisa – Florence and Lucca – Volterra is rich in ancient sites and details, as Orciatico, and now fortified village surrounded by fields and woods, whose parish has ancient origins Cash and Pietracassia or Stone, majestic and ancient rocks from the square, with only traces of the tower and gateway.
